CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NA BAILTE SAN GHAEDHEALTACHT AGUS AN COMHAIREAMH.

D'fhiafruigh

MICHEAL OG MAC PHAIDIN

den Aire Tionnscail agus Tráchtála an bhfuil sé socruighthe aige ainmneacha na mbailte san Ghaedhealtacht a chlódh-bhualadh i nGaedhilic agus i mBéarla i gComhaireamh Mhór an tSaorstáit.

"The Irish-speaking districts" and "the partly Irish-speaking districts," as defined in the Report of the Gaeltacht Commission, are receiving special treatment in the compilation of Census results, not only as regards the Irish language, but also as regards tables measuring economic conditions. Work on the tables relating to the Gaeltacht and the Irish language is proceeding with a view to their presentation in one volume. That volume will not be published for some time since it is considered advisable to issue the more general volumes for all parts of the country, including those on industries, on occupations, on housing and on unemployment, before the volume for the Gaeltacht to enable the economic tables for the latter to be appreciated by comparison. The question of the extent to which Irish will be used in the volume relating to the Gaeltacht has, therefore, not yet been considered.
