Vol. 23 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - REDUCTION OF OLD AGE PENSION.

asked the Minister for Finance if he can state on what grounds the old age pension granted to Bridget Kilkelly, Ryehill, Monivea, was reduced by 3s., and whether the Minister will now consider restoring this amount to her.

Bridget Kilkelly was granted an old age pension of 8s. a week by decision of the Local Government Board dated 3rd January, 1921.

The rate of pension was reduced by the Pension Officer to 5s. a week on review under the provisions of Section 4 of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1924. The pensioner appealed against this reduction to the Local Pension Committee who upheld the ruling of the Pension Officer. As the pensioner did not appeal against the Pension Committee's decision it is final and conclusive.
