Vol. 23 No. 10

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - VESTING OF LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that the holdings of Patrick O'Dea, John McDonagh, and M. Thornton, on the Lindsey-Fitzpatrick Estate, which was taken over in 1912, have not yet been vested; that the delay of the Land Commission in vesting those lands makes the tenants liable to pay annuities for 84 years instead of 68; and whether he will now state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Irish Land Commission to have these lands vested.

The Lindsey-Fitzpatrick Estate was vested in the Congested Districts Board on the 31st March, 1915.

Patrick O'Dea, who signed a tenancy agreement as from 1st February, 1917, was notified with other tenants by the inspector to sign an agreement for the purchase of his holding in the townlands of Mullaroe, etc., but he did not attend to sign the agreement.

John McDonagh signed a tenancy agreement as from 1st May, 1923, in respect of his holding in the townland of Rahard.

There is no trace in the rental of this estate of any tenant named Thornton.

An opportunity will again be given to Patrick O'Dea to sign a purchase agreement, and a sale price schedule will be prepared as regards John McDonagh's holding with a view to enabling him to sign a purchase agreement.
