Vol. 23 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BRITISH PENSIONERS IN THE SAORSTÁT.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the total amount paid by the British Government in the years ending 31st March, 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928, respectively, by way of pensions to residents in Saorstát Eireann.

This information is not available in my Department, and I have ascertained by inquiry from the British Government that, in order to give a complete answer to the question, it would be necessary, as regards the majority of the classes of pensions paid by that Government, to examine every payment made to every pensioner during the four years in question, as no separate record is kept of payments made to pensioners resident in the Saorstát. I regret, therefore, that I cannot furnish or obtain for the Deputy the information sought.
