CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SHANNON SCHEME ENGINEERS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he can state the number of Irish engineers employed by the contractors on the Shannon Scheme; the number employed twelve months ago; the number who have resigned during the past twelve months; and whether the Minister can state the reasons for these resignations.

The number of Irish engineers employed by the contractors on 1st May this year was thirty-nine; on 1st May last year, thirty-four. The number who resigned during that period of twelve months was twenty-eight, thirteen to take up other appointments at home and six abroad. The reason for resignation in the case of the remaining nine is not known.
