Vol. 23 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IMPORTATION OF MUTTON.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the number of sheep and lamb carcases imported into the Saorstát up to date for 1928.

The number of sheep and lamb carcases imported into the Saorstát is not available. The quantity of mutton and lamb imported in the four months January to April, 1928, was 1,598 cwt.

Mr. O'REILLY

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that some of these sheep and lamb carcases are Irish produce, sold in Birkenhead, where they were slaughtered, and returned for sale in Dublin?

I am not aware of that.

Mr. O'REILLY

I understand that is the case.
