Vol. 23 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. Oral Answers. - CO. MEATH LAND CLAIMANTS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will state what lands it is intended to acquire in the Batterstown area, County Meath, so as to satisfy the local claimants in that district.

It is presumed the Batterstown referred to in the question is the area adjoining Batterstown Railway Station. In this district the Wallis Estate has been acquired, embracing an area of 515 acres. Of this 270 acres have been allotted to Mr. Joyce, a migrant from Co. Mayo, who surrendered in that county 535 acres, which were urgently required for the relief of congestion. The allocation of the remainder of the lands on the Wallis Estate is under consideration.
