Vol. 23 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. WRITTEN ANSWERS. - INCOME TAX ASSESSMENTS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the number of persons with incomes of £400 per annum, or less, who were assessed for income tax in the years 1924-25, 1925-26, and 1926-27, respectively, and whether he can state the amounts collected from such persons in respect of income tax for the years aforementioned.

Statistics for income tax purposes are not at present extracted under the various ranges of income; it would not, therefore, be possible to obtain the information required in the question without considerable expense, and without diverting the Revenue staff from the main work of the assessment and collection of tax.
