WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DÁIL LOAN, 1920.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that Mr. Thomas Lowry, Market Street, Monaghan (No. 8433), applied on 13th March, 1928, for Savings Certificates in respect of his subscription to the Dáil Loan, 1920; that he again applied on 23rd May, 1928; that he has so far received only a formal acknowledgment of his communications; and whether he will state the approximate date on which the authority to issue Savings Certificates in this case will be given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.

An application has been received from Mr. Thomas Lowry, of Market Street, Monaghan, for the repayment of his subscription to the Dáil Loan. Authority to issue an appropriate Savings Certificate will be given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs shortly.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the names of Hugh Dempsey, Dunmakenna, Latton P.O., County Monaghan, and Peter Quinn, Cloniquillon, Lisnalong P.O., County Monaghan, are entered on the register of subscribers to the Dáil Loan, 1920, and whether he will state their respective numbers.

The name of Mr. Hugh Dempsey, Dunmakenna, Latton P.O., Co. Monaghan, is entered on the Register of subscribers to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan. An application for repayment which has been received from Mr. Dempsey is being dealt with in the ordinary course and a certificate will be issued to him shortly. The numbers on the Register have no interest or significance, and it is not understood why they are asked for. No application has been received from Mr. Peter Quinn, of Cloniquillon, Lisnalong P.O., Co. Monaghan.
