Vol. 26 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MILITARY PENSIONS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether the person described as Frank Reilly, Longford, on the list of pensioners, under the Military Pensions Acts supplied, is the Frank Reilly, of Ballinamuck, Co. Longford, who was arrested and interned in Northern Ireland in 1922, and who is at present resident in New York, U.S.A.; whether the pension awarded this man is being paid to him, and, if so, when the last payment was made.

The person described as Frank O'Reilly, Longford, on the list to which the Deputy refers is Frank O'Reilly, Thowna, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. I am not aware of his present address. The pension awarded to him has not been paid, as certain necessary forms which were sent to him for completion in 1926 have not been returned.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he will state when Daniel Moriarty, of Gurranafulla, Co. Kerry, was granted a pension under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, and the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924; and if he will state what particular pre-truce services this man rendered to entitle him to a "Military Service Certificate."

A pension has not been granted to Daniel Moriarty under the Army Pensions Act, 1923. A pension under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, was awarded to him on the 2nd February, 1926. In connection with the latter part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to him on the 13th June last.
