Vol. 26 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PROGRAMME CONFERENCE'S RECOMMENDATIONS.

asked the Minister for Education what steps have been taken by his Department to give effect to the recommendations contained in the report of the Programme Conference, published over two years ago regarding the issue of a new edition of the "Notes for Teachers."

The preparation of a new edition of "Notes for Teachers" has engaged the attention of my Department for some time. Steps are being taken to give effect to the recommendations of the conference. A certain amount of delay was inevitable before the work of revision could be proceeded with. Among other reasons, it was most desirable to have some experience of the working of the new programme before the revision of the pamphlet could be fruitfully undertaken.

Would the Minister say how soon we may expect this edition?

Well, it is rather a complicated matter, because separate chapters were being undertaken by separate inspectors, and consequently I could not say exactly how soon.
