Vol. 26 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PIER AT VALENTIA.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state whether the investigations respecting the proposed pier at Valentia Harbour, County Kerry, are yet completed, and, if not, whether he will state the nature of these investigations, having regard to the fact that it is understood that these investigations have been in progress for the past eleven months; and if the investigations are completed whether he will state what is the estimated cost of the pier proposed to be built, and if it is intended to advertise for a contractor.

The investigations referred to have been completed, and the estimated cost of a pier to meet the requirements is £20,000. Further progress cannot be made until the question of general policy on the erection of piers and harbours has been determined on receipt of the report of the Piers and Harbours Tribunal. The question of procuring the necessary funds for the work will then have to be settled.
