Vol. 26 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DIVISION OF CLIFDEN ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state when the promised division of Ardagh farm, near Clifden, will take place.

The lands in question are tenanted lands and an Order has recently been made by the Judicial Commissioner authorising the Land Commission to resume them. All the necessary steps with a view to the division of the lands are being taken.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the same reply was given on the 18th November, 1926, and the 20th January, 1927, to Deputy O'Connell, and am I to take it that it is the same attitude—that steps are being taken—that steps are still being taken and that no advance has been made in the matter?

Negotiations are now at an advanced stage. The Deputy must remember that this is a very big estate, and that a great many difficulties had to be determined in a judicial way before we could take any steps for its acquisition.
