Vol. 27 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EXPENDITURE ON DRAINAGE.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will state (a) the number of cases in the Saorstát up to the present date in which the Land Commission have taken any steps to expend moneys in drainage and maintenance under Section 20 of the Land Act, 1927, and applied to the Judicial Commissioner for an order transferring to them (the Land Commission) Land Bonds for the amount so expended; (b) the amounts so expended by the Land Commission to date, and (c) the amounts of Land Bonds transferred to them by order of the Judicial Commissioner to recoup such expenditure.

The Land Commission have taken steps in respect of 10 estates to expend money on drainage, repair of embankments and works connected therewith under Section 20 of the Land Act, 1927, and the amount expended or to be expended, is £8,887.

Application has not yet been made to the Judicial Commissioner to transfer Land Bonds in respect of such expenditure, as the proceedings for the sale of the estates concerned have not yet reached the stage for the issue of Land Bonds representing the purchase moneys thereof.
