Vol. 27 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LEIX ESTATE ROADS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he has received complaints from or on behalf of the tenants on the estate of Lieut.-Colonel Henry Joseph Thacher, Rathmore, Ballybrophy, Leix (Reference 47659/1927, T.584), pointing out the necessity for the making of roads to the houses of the tenants on the estate; whether he is prepared to allocate a sum from the Improvement Vote of the Land Commission for this purpose, and to issue instructions for the carrying out of this necessary work without further delay.

Representations regarding the necessity for roads and other work on the estate of Lieut.-Colonel H.J. Thacher, Co. Leix, have been received by the Land Commission from the Deputy.

The estate is the subject of purchase proceedings under the Land Act, 1923, and is being dealt with by the Land Commission.

It is anticipated that an inspector will shortly visit this estate when he will enquire into the question of roads and other matters regarding the estate. Until these enquiries have been completed the Commissioners will not be in a position to say what action they may take in the matter.
