CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IMPORTED GOLD, SILVER AND ELECTRO PLATE.
An application has been received for the imposition of a Customs duty at the rate of 33 1-3 per cent ad valorem on articles of gold and silver, and at the rate of 25 per cent. ad valorem on articles of electro plate imported into the Saorstát. This application has not yet been referred to the Tariff Commission. Enquiries are proceeding with a view to establishing whether the applicants are of the representative character required by Subsection (1) of Section 2 of the Tariff Commission Act, 1926.
