Vol. 28 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Mayo Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he can state when their holdings will be vested in the tenants on the Palmer Estate, Co. Mayo, which estate was purchased by the Congested Districts Board as far back as 1910 or 1911.

This Estate which is situate in over 200 Townlands was vested in the (late) Congested Districts Board on 29th March, 1923, and the necessary steps towards the resale of the holdings could not be carried out before that date.

The resale of the holdings is being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he can state when the holdings on the Knox-Rappa Castle Estate, Co. Mayo, will be vested in the tenants.

It is presumed the Deputy refers to the untenanted lands of Rappacastle, and other lands on the estate of Violet Knox, County Mayo, which have been acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1923, and allotted to persons under Lettings for Temporary Convenience.

I am not at present in a position to say when the holdings will be vested in purchasers.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he can state the date on which the holdings on the Arran Estate, Co. Mayo, will be vested in the tenants.

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the Earl of Arran Estate, which was purchased by the (late) Congested Districts Board. The majority of the tenants on this estate have signed Purchase Agreements for their holdings, which with a few exceptions have been vested in them.

Arrangements will be made at an early date to have Purchase Agreements presented for signature by the remaining tenants to whom it is proposed to resell their holdings.
