Vol. 28 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bridging of Cork River.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware of the necessity for a bridge across the Adrigole River at Drumgaroin, and if he is prepared to take steps to have same constructed in order to facilitate the people of that district.

A substantial foot-bridge was erected across the Adrigole river adjoining the ford used for carting purposes by the tenants of some holdings in the townland referred to. This foot-bridge, consisting of steel girders carried on concrete piers and abutments, was erected at a substantial cost. The additional expenditure that would be necessary to erect a bridge to carry vehicular traffic would be considerable, and could not be economically justified, and the Land Commission is not prepared to incur it.

With reference to the question asked by Deputy Houlihan, I stood up to ask a supplementary question and I was not seen.

I am afraid that that cannot be remedied now.

Mr. Hogan

Well, sir, I was on my feet immediately after the question was asked. The supplementary question was an important one, and I certainly think I should have been seen.

The supplementary question cannot be asked now.
