Vol. 28 No. 12

Written Answers. - Custody of Treasure Trove.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he will state if twelve silver coins of the reign of Edward I., found at Annagassan, Co. Louth, were taken charge of by the Gárda Síochána on January 5th, 1929, as treasure trove; whether these coins and other Saxon coins found at a later date near Ardee, Co. Louth, and also taken into charge by the Gárda Síochána, have been handed over to the Royal Irish Academy, who are the trustees for treasure trove in Ireland, and, if not, what has been the cause of the delay.

The treasure trove referred to by the Deputy was forwarded to the Royal Irish Academy on the 27th February, 1929, and its receipt has been acknowledged.
