Vol. 28 No. 12

Written Answers. - Land Commission Employees in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state (a) the number of supervising gangers employed by the Irish Land Commission in the Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Castlebar and Westport areas of South Mayo; (b) the number of gangers employed in the same areas; (c) the number of labourers; and (d) the number of inspectors in County Mayo.

The number of gangers and labourers employed by the Land Commission vary from time to time with the number and extent of improvement works in progress and with the season of the year. At the present time there are employed in the districts referred to by the Deputy three supervising gangers, eight gangers and 154 labourers. Eleven inspectors are at present working in Co. Mayo.
