Vol. 29 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Raid by Gárdaí on Cashel Residence.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that the house of Timothy Cahill, Ardmoyle Station, Cashel. Co. Tipperary, was raided by members of the Gárda Síochána some time ago, and, if so, whether he will state for what purpose the raid was carried out, and whether the Gárda had a warrant to search the house.

On the 7th ultimo a box of butter consigned from Cashel to Naas was tampered with between Cashel and Gooldscross railway stations and some 5lbs. of butter stolen. All persons who had access to the butter were questioned. A sergeant and a Gárda visited the house of Michael Cahill, a porter who had handled the butter, and interviewed Mrs. Cahill, and as they had no search warrant, asked permission to search the house. She consented to the search being carried out and was present throughout. The butter was not found in the house.
