Vol. 29 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Darcy Estate, Co. Westmeath.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission have acquired for the relief of congestion the lands held by Captain Darcy at Fassagh, Mount Temple, Co. Westmeath; and, if so, whether he will state when the lands will be available for division amongst the applicants; and whether he will state what provisions will be made for the herd.

Captain Darcy holds in the townland of "Fassagh" an area of 200 acres which is subject to a land purchase annuity. As the result of negotiations he agreed to sell 83 acres of this area to the Land Commission under Section 36 of the Land Act, 1923. As soon as vendor's title to the lands is cleared the Land Commission will be in a position to obtain possession of the 83 acres referred to and to proceed with the distribution of the lands. The vendor agreed to retain the herd in his employment.
