Vol. 29 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission, in dealing with the estate of John A. Lewis, Co. Galway (Record No. S. 1990), propose to improve or enlarge the holdings of the congested tenants on the estate whose existing holdings have been vested in them by the Land Commission on February 8th, 1929.

A scheme for the division of the untenanted lands on the estate of J.A. Lewis is at present in the course of preparation, in connection with which due consideration will be given to the needs of existing tenant-purchasers of small holdings on the estate which come within the provisions of Section 31 of the Land Act, 1923. The Land Commission have also, under Section 28 (6) (d) of the Land Act, 1923, retained certain holdings on the estate with a view to their rearrangement and enlargement.
