Vol. 29 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nenagh River Drainage.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state when drainage work on the Nenagh River will commence.

Petitions were lodged for three proposed drainage districts in this area, viz., the Nenagh River, Currabaha and Gurtagarry. The proposals were investigated by engineers and land valuers of the Office of Public Works and on consideration of their reports it has been found desirable to combine the three proposals into one. The county council have agreed in principle to make a contribution towards the cost of the proposed joint scheme. A detailed survey has now to be made with a view to the preparation of a scheme. At the present stage it is not possible to state when a commencement can be made with the works.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary state whether the work will be started this year?

Mr. Burke

I think it is not likely.
