Vol. 29 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Register of Electors.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state if the contract has yet been placed for the printing of the Register of Electors for County Donegal for the year 1929-30; and, if so, whether he will state the name of the firm or firms which have received the contract.

Contracts for printing the Register of Electors for the Country of Donegal for the period 1929 to 1933, inclusive, have been placed with the following firms:— North-West of Ireland Printing Company, Omagh; Thom & Company, Dublin.

Will the Minister say why these contracts were not placed with printing firms in Donegal?

I cannot say.

Will the Minister say if any advertisements were inserted in newspapers asking for tenders?

That I cannot say either.

Is it the policy of the Stationery Department to give preference to firms outside the county for which the registers are required?

I presume not.

To give preference to Omagh and Dublin, as against Donegal?

No, there is no preference given to an outside county. It is quite the other way— preference is given to the county.

I asked the Minister was an advertisement inserted and he did not give a reply.

I could not say that—the Deputy ought to put that question down on the paper.
