Vol. 30 No. 14

Written Answers. - Dáil Bonds Repayments.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cause of the delay in issuing savings certificates to David O'Brien, Kilbree, Cloyne, Co. Cork; Thomas Forrest, Rock Street, Cloyne; Robert Sweetman, The Commons, Cloyne; Wm. O'Neill, Ballyrussel, Cloyne; Edmond Dorgan, Sheenless, Cloyne; Mary Murphy, Knockgorum, Cloyne; James McCarthy, Church Street, Cloyne; James Cuddigan, Church Street, Cloyne; and Margaret Meade, Church Street, Cloyne, in payment of their subscriptions to the Dáil Loan, 1919-1920.

I would refer the Deputy to previous replies given by me to similar questions, and to the statement I made in the Dáil on the 22nd June, 1928. The claim of every subscriber who applied in writing before the expiration of the prescribed time for repayment will be dealt with in my Department in due course.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received application from Mr. Barney Keeney, Meenabrock, Dunkineely, Co. Donegal, for repayment of his subscription of one pound to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan made in 1919; and whether he will state when repayment will be made.

An application for repayment in respect of an amount of £1 stated to have been paid by him by way of a subscription to the Dáil Eireann Loan, 1919-20, was received from Mr. Barney Keenan, of Meenabrock, Dunkineely. The records of my Department do not contain any particulars of the subscription referred to, nor has Mr. Keenan furnished any documentary evidence which would enable me to authorise repayment.

asked the Minister for Finance if Mark McGrath and Mrs. McGrath, Ballywilliam, New Ross, are registered as subscribers to the Dáil Eireann Loan, and, if so, if he will state why the subscription has not been refunded in response to repeated applications.

The particulars furnished in Mr. McGrath's application for repayment do not correspond with those in the records in my Department. I am having further inquiries made. No application has been received from Mrs. McGrath, nor is her name recorded as a subscriber in my Department.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received an application from Michael Dillon, 5 Rudge Road, Coventry, for refund of his subscription to the Dáil Eireann Loan, and if he will state what is the cause of delay in making the refund.

Authority to issue a Savings Certificate to Mr. Michael Dillon, of 5 Rudge Road, Coventry, which will enable him to obtain repayment of his subscription of £2 to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan, 1919-20, at an early date has been given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.
