Vol. 30 No. 14

Written Answers. - Raphoe Postal Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that the mail arriving in Raphoe, Co. Donegal, each morning at 11.35 a.m. is not delivered until the following morning at 9 a.m.; and whether, seeing that the postman is unemployed between (approximately) the hours of 11.45 a.m. and 1.50 p.m., and does not come off duty until 2.15 p.m., he will arrange for delivery of letters on day of arrival.

The principal mail of the day arrives in Raphoe at 8.35 a.m. and the delivery of correspondence commences at 9.0 a.m.

A second delivery is not afforded at towns similarly circumstanced, and the additional expenditure involved in providing a second delivery at Raphoe would not be justified.

Correspondence received by the second mail at 11.45 a.m. may be obtained by the addressee on calling at the Post Office.
