Vol. 31 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dáil Loan Subscribers.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the original list of Dáil Loan subscribers covering the Anablata districts of Kilcummin Parish, Killarney—collectors' names, Mr. Horan and Mr. Kerrisk—was accepted by his Department as being correct, and was passed for payment, and whether the Minister will now state what has caused the holding over of payment to 40 per cent. of the subscribers.

On the 6th February last a list of 121 persons resident in the parish of Kilcummin who subscribed to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-20, was entered in the Authentic Register which is being prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 4 of the Dáil Eireann Loans and Funds Act, 1924. Repayment has been authorised in the case of all persons whose names are included in that list and who, in making application for repayment, furnished particulars corresponding with the particulars contained in the list. In 34 cases the particulars furnished by the applicants did not correspond with the particulars contained in the list and forms of enquiry have been issued to the 34 persons concerned. When the replies are received the applications will be further considered.

asked the Minister for Finance to state what steps have been taken to refund the contributions to Dáil Eireann Loan, 1919-20, made by John M. Corcoran, Garry-laurence, Clonmult, Midleton; John Walsh, Rathorgan, Clonmult, Midleton; and Miss K. Roche, Springhill, Carrigtwohill; and whether he will state when payments will be made to these subscribers.

There is no record in my Department of a subscription to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-20, by John M. Corcoran of Garrylaurence, Clonmult. There is, however, a record of a subscription of £1 by John Corcoran of the same address, and the issue of a Savings Certificate to enable him to obtain repayment was authorised on the 19th June, 1928.

There is no record of a subscription in the name of John Walsh, of Rathorgan, Clonmult, and Mr. Walsh has been invited to submit evidence in support of his claim.

There is no record of a subscription in the name of Miss K. Roche, Springhill, Carrigtwohill, but repayment in respect of a subscription of £5 in the name of Miss Roche, Springhill, Ballyhooley, was authorised on the 29th December, 1926. I am making inquiries with a view to ascertaining whether this is the lady referred to in the Deputy's question.
