Vol. 31 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Indemnity Act Claims.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give a return showing the total amount paid by way of compensation or indemnity under the Indemnity Act, 1924, and the names, addresses and occupations of the persons who received compensation or indemnity under that Act, and the nature of the claims under which such compensation or indemnity was granted in each case.

The total amount paid by way of compensation or indemnity under the Indemnity Act, 1924, was £80,064. These payments covered approximately 2,900 claims, and, in view of the labour which would be involved, I cannot see my way to furnish a return showing the names, addresses and occupations of the persons concerned. The nature of the claims is generally indicated by the terms of Sections 5 and 6 of the Indemnity Act, 1924.
