Vol. 32 No. 8

Written Answers. - Congestion in Co. Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townland of Rosmindle, Kilmeena, Co. Mayo, and if it is the intention of the Land Commission to acquire the neighbouring Lord Sligo's estate with a view to relieving this congestion; and, if so, when do they propose to take this action.

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion in the townland of Rosmindle in the neighbourhood of Lord Sligo's estate, and have instituted proceedings under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Westport Demesne and Tonaraha West, containing respectively 464a. 0r. 6p. and 57a. 3r. 34p. These lands were published in a provisional list of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The price of these lands has been determined, and a scheme for their division and distribution is in course of preparation.
