Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Relief of Congestion and Distribution of Lands in Co. Galway.

Tomás Mac Giolla Phóil

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Irish Land Commission propose taking over for distribution among the tenants the untenanted lands held by Mr. Michael Brannick at Kilclooney, Milltown, Co. Galway; whether negotiations have taken place in connection with these lands, and with what result.

The Land Commission have made inquiry regarding the lands of Kilcloony, the property of Michael Brannick, which are subject to land purchase annuity, and have decided not to acquire them.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries what steps have been taken by the Irish Land Commission towards acquiring for relief of congestion in the district the lands of Gorthnamona, Palmer estate, Headford, Co. Galway.

The Land Commission have made inquiry regarding the lands of Gorthnamona, the property of Mr. Henry Palmer and Mrs. Mary Palmer, which are subject to Land Purchase Annuity, and have decided not to acquire them.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether for the relief of congestion in the Clogher and Cregboy districts of Co. Galway, he proposes to acquire and distribute among the uneconomic landholders the farm at Kiltulla, Ballintemple, Clare-Galway, held by Mr. Wm. Burke.

The question of the acquisition of the lands referred to is under consideration by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that congestion exists in the Annaghdown portion of Co. Galway; and whether in view of that he can state if the Irish Land Commission have considered or are likely to consider the question of acquiring the lands of the Miss Blake estate, Annaghdown, for distribution among the uneconomic holders.

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion existing on the Blake estate at Annaghdown, and the question of the acquisition of the untenanted lands of the owner is under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made by the Irish Land Commission towards the distribution of the Ross estate, Killanin, Co. Galway.

The Land Commission anticipate being in a position to divide the lands of Rosscahill East and Ross Demesne, comprising 226 acres, at an early date.
