Vol. 33 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Co. Mayo Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is yet in a position to give the result of the investigation of the matters raised in the memorials which he received from tenants on the Arranmore estate, in the parish of Devlish West, Ayle, Westport, Co. Mayo.

The Land Commission have decided to take proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Bellaburke, containing 46a. 1r. 22p., the property of the Reps. of William G. O'Malley; the lands of Bellaburke, containing 35a. Or. 35p., the property of John Byrne, and the lands of Killawullaun West, containing 157a. 2r. 5p., the property of Peter Joseph O'Malley and Mrs. Sabina A. O'Malley, and as these lands are subject to the exceptions in Section 24 (2) of the Land Act, 1923, the prescribed notices have been gazetted of the intention of the Land Commission to acquire them for the relief of congestion. The Land Commission have sanctioned the expenditure of money for the provision of necessary road accommodation on the townlands of Devlish West and Drunineen.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if the Land Commission were considering a proposal to confer or define by means of an Order under Section 43 of the Land Act, 1923, a right of wav on Mr. Peter Walsh, of Kilbree, Westport, Co. Mayo, a tenant on the C.D.B. Estate No. 35, formerly the Palmer Estate, Receivable Order No. 1858; and, if so, if he is in a position to say when the matter will be completed.

The Land Commission have had under consideration the question of making an Order under Section 43 of Land Act. 1923, conferring a right of way over the holding of Mrs. Bridget Walsh for the benefit of Mr. Peter Walsh, Kilbree, Westport, a tenant on the estate of Sir R. Palmer, C.D.B. Estate No. 35, County Mayo, and are taking the necessary steps with a view to the conferring of the right.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission received last August from Mrs. Julia Henry, of Cregduff, Kilcommon, Co. Mayo, a tenant on the late Blake Estate, Receivable Order No. 94/3107, an application for a grant of £50 and a loan of £50 to enable her to complete the building of a house which she had begun; and, if so, if it is the intention of the Land Commission to deal favourably with this application.

The Land Commission received an application from Mrs. Julia Henry for assistance but as her holding was vested under the Land Purchase Acts 21 years ago it is not now possible to make her a loan or grant out of the Improvement Fund.
