Vol. 33 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Kerry Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries to state whether Mrs. Cronin, Tureenamult, Gneeveguilla, Rathmore, Kerry, has signified her acceptance to the Irish Land Commission of a farm outside the County Kerry in exchange for her present holding; if so, will the Minister give an assurance that he will expedite this transfer, and also give an assurance that Mrs. Cronin's present holding will be distributed equally between the uneconomic holders and the few landless men living adjacent to this holding.

The Land Commission propose to provide the Cronin family with a holding on the Croker Dyer Estate, Co. Limerick, in exchange for their holding on the Kenmare Estate. Mrs. Cronin has informed the Land Commission that she is willing to accept the holding shown her on the Croker Dyer Estate, and the matter will be completed as expeditiously as possible. At this stage the Land Commission cannot say how they will dispose of the Cronin holding on the Kenmare Estate if the exchange is effected, but the claims of deserving applicants will be fully considered.
