Vol. 33 No. 10

Written Answers. - Dáil Eireann Loan Refund.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received repeated applications from William Murphy, St. Kearns, Ballycullane, County Wexford, for refund of his subscription to Dáil Eireann Loan, and whether he can now authorise repayment.

One application was received from Mr. William Murphy, of St. Kearns, Ballycullane, County Wexford, for repayment in respect of a sum of £1 (one pound) stated to have been subscribed by him to the Dáil Eireann Loan, 1919-20. As the particulars furnished in the application did not correspond with those in the records in my Department, a form was despatched to Mr. Murphy on the 3rd May, 1927, for completion. This form was not returned and no further communication has been received from Mr. Murphy. I am having a further form addressed to him, and when the necessary particulars have been furnished the question of authorising repayment will be considered without delay.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the reason, if any, for the delay in refunding Dáil Loan to John Nunan, Churchtown, Buttevant, No. 4354 and 95908, and when John Nunan may expect repayment of this money.

There is no record in my Department of a subscription to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-20, by Mr. John Nunan of Churchtown, Buttevant. In June, 1929, repayment was authorised in respect of a subscription by a Mr. John Nunan of Churchtown, Mallow, but the letter containing the Savings Certificate was returned undelivered and the envelope marked "not known." In the circumstances I would suggest that Mr. John Nunan of Buttevant might communicate with the Department of Posts and Telegraphs in regard to the matter.
