asked the Minister for Finance if he will state if any rent for storage is chargeable on the 93,000 lbs. of Irish-grown tobacco in bond; and, if so, what is the amount of rent to date; and further, if he is in a position to state in what condition that tobacco is.

The tobacco in question is stored in warehouses approved by the Revenue Commissioners but owned by private individuals or corporate bodies. Any rent chargeable for storage is payable to the owners of the warehouses. I am unable, therefore, to furnish any information on the matter of rent charged or chargeable for storage.
I have no information as to the condition of the tobacco to which the Deputy refers.
