I move:—
"That the Moneylenders Bill, 1929, be referred to a Select Committee consisting of eleven Deputies to be nominated by the Committee of Selection;
That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records; and
That the quorum of the Committee be five."
In moving that I would like to say that the misgiving I had was removed, that it would only be a committee of inquiry. The Committee will have full power to amend the Bill if they have the evidence before them. It is an interesting thing to note that it is the first time the powers under these particular rules have been put into force.
