Vol. 34 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Galway Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the reason why the Land Commission, after getting an order from the Judicial Commissioners authorising the resumption of holding No. 57 on the retained list, relating to the estate of J.A. Lewis, County Galway, Record No. S.1990, did not instruct their inspector to interview James Dwyer, Lowertown, Woodford, County Galway, with a view to getting him to surrender three-fourths of the turbary on the holding before they would resume the holding.

The Land Commission have obtained an order authorising them to resume the holding of W. J. Farren, but are not yet in a position to take possession of it or make arrangements for its disposal. When the holding is resumed, the holding including the turbary thereon, will be the property of the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the reason why the Land Commission have not replied to a registered letter dated 19th March, 1930, from James Dwyer, Lowertown, Woodford, County Galway, regarding copies of orders in connection with the holding from which his mother was evicted in 1889, this being holding 57, Record No. 1990, J.A. Lewis Estate, County Galway.

The writer was informed on 12th April, in reply to his letter of 19th March, that on receipt in the Land Commission Office of the forms of requisition supplied, completed and stamped with Land Commission stamps to the amount indicated thereon, he would be furnished with a copy of the order made in the matter of the resumed holding of W.J. Farren in the J.A. Lewis Estate on the objection before the Land Commission, and a copy of the order made by the Judicial Commissioner as well.
