Vol. 36 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tallaght and the Shannon Overhead Cable.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state what representations were made by his Department protesting against the carrying of the Shannon scheme overhead cable across Tallaght Aerodrome, thereby rendering Tallaght useless, from the air point of view, for civil or military aviation.

No representations were made against the erection of the overhead cables in question by my Department.

Was the matter of the position of these overhead cables brought to the attention of the Minister at the time?

We do not regard Tallaght as associated with military requirements. It was surplus to military requirements, and this does not affect us.

If the aerodrome is not used for military purposes, is it not possible that it will be used for civil aviation?

That is not my business.
