Vol. 36 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - Kildare Doctor's Income Tax.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state the reasons given by the officer in charge of No. 7 District (Income Tax), Dublin, for assessing the business of Mr. Ml. McEvoy, Eyre Street, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, at the rate £150 0s. 0d. profit per annum, and whether, as this tax was deducted from the Army pension of Mr. McEvoy, he will have further inquiries made in the case with a view to relief.

I have no functions as regards the fixing of income tax assessments, and I have no power to interfere with the Inspector of Taxes in the discharge of the duties imposed upon him by the Income Tax Acts. If the taxpayer is aggrieved, he has the right to appeal to the Special Commissioners, and if necessary to the Circuit Judge.
