Vol. 36 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Official's Period of Service.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will restore to Eoghan Mac Suibhne, General Register Office, his previous service in the Post Office, and his period of enforced absence from July, 1922, to February, 1928, towards salary, pension, promotion and seniority in his present appointment.

Mr. Eoghan Mac Suibhne's established service in the Post Office will, as he was informed before re-employment, count for pension. There is no adequate reason for varying the terms and conditions of appointment in his present grade which were communicated to Mr. Mac Suibhne in a letter dated 12th January, 1928, and which were accepted by him in writing before being re-employed.

Is it not a fact that Mr. Mac Suibhne has been recommended for promotion, and is the blocking of the promotion not simply further political victimisation?

He certainly has not been victimised. He has been treated very well.

Is it not a fact that he has been recommended for promotion?

I have not the slightest information.

The Minister should find out then.
