Vol. 36 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Moore Estate (Co. Mayo).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state when the vesting of the tenants on the Moore Estate, in the Parish of Killawalla, Westport, Mayo, will take place; further, will he state if anything is to be done in the near future about the drainage of the river between Towneygroy and Loughnagelth on this estate, in view of the fact that it has been in a very bad state of flooding for a long time past.

A scheme for the re-arrangement of the holdings on the portion of this Estate referred to by the Deputy is in hands, but it is not anticipated that it can be completed before the end of next year.

The Land Commission has under consideration the question of the flooding of portion of the lands situated between Tawnynagry and Lough Nageltia.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Irish Land Commission tools were brought to that district for the purpose of draining this river some few years ago and that they were taken away again without anything being done while the river is still in a very bad state?

There was no money available at the time to do it.

It is rather peculiar that the tools should be sent to the site and then taken away suddenly.
