Vol. 37 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Longford and Westmeath.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of men employed in Counties Longford and Westmeath respectively on February 2nd and February 9th out of grants from the Relief Schemes Vote administered by his Department.

The information asked for by the Deputy is not available.

Will the Minister say whether the information supplied and figures quoted by Deputy Connolly on the Adjournment Debate on Thursday night last were furnished to that Deputy by the Minister's Department?

They were not supplied by the Department.

I am asking the Minister a question.

I supplied no information to any Deputy as to the number of people employed on works such as these because I am not in a position to do so.

Where did Deputy Connolly get his figures?

Where does the Deputy sometimes get the figures which he uses himself?

Will the Minister, at a future date, be able to give the number of people employed on these works?

Will the Minister state his reasons for not being able to supply that information?

I have already stated that in reply to a question some day last week.
