Vol. 37 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gweedore Improvement Schemes.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what consideration, if any, has been given to the improvement schemes submitted by the Gweedore Parish Committee, County Donegal, to the Irish Land Commission, for grants under the Relief Schemes Vote, 1930.

The schemes of works under the Relief Vote forwarded by the Gweedore Parish Committee have been considered in connection with the Relief Schemes in County Donegal, but owing to the large number of more suitable works in the County it was found impossible to undertake them out of the money available for expenditure by the Land Commision out of the Relief Vote. They will, however, be considered in connection with expenditure out of the Vote for improvement of estates.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state if any money has been expended on any other schemes in this district under the Relief Schemes Vote?

That is a different question and I cannot answer it at the moment. I may say that practically all the works recommended by the Gweedore Parish Committee were works connected with the improvement of estates, and as I have indicated in my answer, they will be considered in connection with expenditure out of the Vote for the improvement of estates.
