Vol. 37 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Toler-Aylward Farm (Kilkenny).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the reasons for the delay in dividing the Toler-Aylward farm at Shankill, County Kilkenny; and whether, in view of the grave inconvenience to the tenants affected thereby, he will take steps to have the distribution scheme put into operation forthwith.

A scheme for the division of the lands of Shankill, on the estate of Mr. Toler-Aylward, has been prepared and will be put into operation as soon as possible.

I would like if the Minister could now give us an interpretation of the expression "as soon as possible" from the Land Commission point of view. It would save a great deal of time and money. This is a case in which two years ago a Land Commission inspector told me that there would be no difficulty in dealing with the matter at that time and finishing it up completely. It has been held up and the tenants who are expecting this land are placed at a great disadvantage. Are we to take it now that this Spring as well as the last two Springs is to be allowed to pass without anything being done?

I understand "as soon as possible" here means within three months.
