asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that there is a strong feeling amongst occupiers of labourers' cottages that they should be empowered to purchase their dwellings; and whether he is prepared to set up a committee to inquire into the matter and, if considered desirable, to devise a scheme to this end.

This matter was fully inquired into in 1927 by means of queries addressed to the various Boards of Health. The replies received indicated considerable divergence of opinion on the subject, and the Minister would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Deputy Moore on the 4th December, 1929. The Minister is still of the opinion that the sale of these cottages by the Boards of Health is undesirable.
