Vol. 38 No. 3

Twenty-fifth Report of the Committee of Selection.

Reported:—That the Committee has nominated the following Deputies to serve on the Committee of Public Accounts:—
Deputies Aiken, Anthony, Bennett, Briscoe, Mrs. Collins - O'Driscoll, Conlon, Derrig, Esmonde, Good, P. Hogan (Clare), Moore, and The O'Mahony.
The Committee discharged Deputy Little from the Joint Committee on Standing Orders (Private Business) and appointed Deputy Bennett in his place.
P.S. UA DUBHGHAILL
(Chairman).

A word of explanation is, I think, due by me as the Committee discharged my name from its list of members. I resigned from the Committee on the ground that the nomination of the Fianna Fáil Party on the Committee appointed to deal with the Bank of Ireland Bill was ignored. The nominations, therefore, to the Committee were not carried out as they are on other Committees. Having taken up that attitude at that time, it is impossible for us, until the Standing Orders are changed, to take part in that Committee. We reserve our right, however at a later date, when Standing Orders are, we understand, to be recast, to reconsider the whole matter then.

Ordered: That the Report lie on the Table.
