Vol. 38 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Construction in Co. Limerick.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the reason for the delay on the part of the Land Commission in completing the construction of the road through the O'Mahony Estate, Mountcollins, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick; and whether he is aware that great inconvenience is caused to the tenants owing to this road not being completed; and whether he will state the date upon which the necessary work will be commenced.

The Land Commission have not yet completed the inquiry which is being made regarding the possibility of migrating one or more tenants from the townland of Mountcollins on the Estate of Dr. Mahony to relieve congestion there. In the event of any rearrangement of that townland it may be possible to provide a shorter passway than the road at present in use. The Land Commission are therefore not yet in a position to consider the application of the tenants for the reconstruction of the existing passway into their holdings, which would cost a considerable sum.

Is the Minister aware that this has been going on for the past fifteen or sixteen years, that one poor man gave away a right of way, and that there is no chance of his getting back his land, which was taken over by the other party? It is very unfair.

I am not aware of that.
