Vol. 39 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - McKeown Farm (Sligo).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether a scheme for the sub-division of the McKeown Farm, in the townland of Moygara, on the King-Harman Estate, County Sligo, has been prepared; and if he can state whether the names of Messrs. Andrew Davey and Hugh Scanlon, both of Moygara, have been included in the scheme with the names of other tenants, to be provided with allotments of this farm.

The Resale Scheme for the division of the lands of Moygara area, 55a. 1r. 20p., held by Very Rev. J. Canon McKeown has not yet been finally settled.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state whether these two applicants, Messrs. Davey and Scanlon, will obtain an allotment of this farm?

That information cannot be given until the scheme is finally put into operation.

Has the Parliamentary Secretary made any inquiry as to whether the names of these tenants are included in the scheme?

No; I hadn't time.

Has the Parliamentary Secretary promised them that he would include their names?

No. The Deputy will understand that it would be impossible for the Land Commission to carry out its administration if information of this kind were given in advance. This information is never given until the scheme is in operation.

Is the information not disclosed to the local branches of Cumann na nGaedheal?

The Parliamentary Secretary is not responsible to Parliament in that respect.
