asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce to state the number of persons insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts, distinguishing between male and female, and the number in receipt of unemployment benefit in January 1st, July 1st and October 1st, 1931, or on the nearest dates for which figures are available.
The numbers of persons insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts at the 5th October, 1930, which is the last date of the 1929-1930 insurance year, were 223,830 males and 58,792 females.
Figures showing the number of persons insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts at the 4th October, 1931, the last date of the 1930-1931 insurance year, are not yet available.
The number of persons to whom Unemployment Benefit was paid in the week ended 5th January, 1931, was 11,717 males and 2,434 females, in the week ended 6th July, 1931, 9,106 males and 1,828 females , and in the week ended 4th Octobr ,1931, 10,511 males and 2,006 females.
asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if will state (1) the number of persons insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts normally employed in each industrial group in April, 1926, and in April, 1931, respectively; (2) the number of persons registered as unemployed in each of the several industrial groups at each Employment Exchange at the end of April,1926, the end of April, 1931, and the end of Semptmber,1931, respectively.
