Written Answers. - Acquisition of Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that the Irish Land Commission acquired the lands of Messrs. McCarton Bros., known as Hollymount and Lehinch Demesnes, in 1931, for the relief of acute congestion existing in the district, that the Land Commission have now let the lands in grazing to the former owners and if he will cause the necessary steps to be taken to see that the land is divided among the occupiers of uneconomic holdings in the vicinity

A scheme for the division of the lands of Hollymount Demesne and Lehinch Demesne which the Land Commission have acquired from Mr. Patrick McCarton is in course of preparation and will be completed as early as possible. The reletting of part of the lands to Mr. McCarton will be terminated at the most convenient moment.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what steps are being taken to divide the lands known as Cuillane farm on the Rush Estate, Ballindine.

A scheme for the division of the lands of Cuillane which the owner, Mr. Donnelly, has agreed to sell to the Land Commission is in course of preparation and will be completed as early as possible.
